Everyone asks me, "How can you do so many push-ups and so many different variations?" Then they say they can't even do one.
There is a little secret to doing push-ups...and it starts with your FOOT POSITION!
Your foot placement can definitely affect the difficulty of any type of push-up. Placing your feet in a wide stance is optimal for starters, the wider you go, the easier the move(s) becomes. So start wide if you need to do so, but go narrower over time.
In addition, the closer your arms to your body the harder the push-up. Wider arm push-ups work more of the chest/arm area (which is naturally stronger than the triceps)....Push-ups, like the military push-ups, use your triceps more and are generally harder to do.
So get off those knees and start WIDE! You can do this! It takes practice and strength. So if you don't get it the first time keep going. Consistency is key!
